The sculptor Michail Vouzounerakis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1980.He lived and grew up in Ierapetra.After finishing High school he left to study in the school of marble-sculpture in Pirgos in Tinos island. His teachers were the sculptors G.Maniatakos, the painter D.Mbeza, G.Silikos also teacher of marble-carving and Mrs G.Roukouni-Maniatakou teacher in architectural design. During his three-year studies in Tinos (1998 - 2001) he was awarded three times with the Aegean & Cyclades Ministry's award for his performance in marble sculpture. He has worked with the 13th Byzantine Antiquities for the reconstruction of the stone-carved Ottoman fountain in Ierapetra, Crete. He has also taught stone-carving for a period in 2007.
