Claude Wampler, worldwide known performance artist from New York, will develop an Istanbul version of PERFORMANCE (career ender) for garajistanbul’s ISTANPOLI project that will be held with the slogan of “There exist another İstanbul!” in the framework of the cultural capital programme ISTANBUL 2010.

Wampler will be collaborating with professionals and/or non-professionals from İstanbul to develop the performance in İstanbul with secrecy. She hides many of the details of the project, which the audience will totally be aware after two weeks they watch it. She wants every member of the audience to have an authentic experience. The production is her way of trying to find a new beginning or a clean ending. The phrase career ender isn’t an irony, she says that every newperformance can be a “career ender”.

Wampler’s bewitching performance in New York provoked a number of significant discussions about audience response and participation, the presence and absence of the artist and the intersection of performance genres such as theater, music and visual art.

Dünyaca ünlü New York'lu sanatçı Claude Wampler, garajistanbul’un “Başka İstanbul Var!” sloganıyla 2010 İstanbul Avrupa Kültür Başkenti projesi olarak hazırladığı İSTANPOLİ için PERFORMANCE (career ender) adlı performansın İstanbul versiyonunu geliştirecek.
Claude Wampler, ISTANPOLI’ye katılımında Istanbul’dan profesyonel ve/veya profesyonel olmayanlarla isbirligi yapacak. Wampler her seyircinin kendine özgü bir deneyime sahip olmasını istiyor. Bu işle yeni bir başlangıç ya da temiz bir son bulmaya çalışıyor. “Kariyer bitiren” ifadesi burada sadece bir ironi değil, Wampler aslında her yeni performansın “kariyer bitiren” olabileceğini söylüyor.
Wampler'in bu büyüleyici işi New York'ta seyircinin cevabı ve katılımı, sanatçının varlığı ve yokluğu ve performansın tiyatro, müzik ve görsel sanatlar gibi diğer türlerle kesişmesiyle ilgili bir çok tartışma yarattı.
Wampler, 8 Şubat 2010 tarihinde saat 19:00'da Kadırga Sanat Üretim Merkezi'nde sanatsal işlerini ve sürecini tanıtacak. Konferansın ardından, performans katılımcıları ile bir toplantı yaparak detaylı bilgi verecektir.
