Art Historian collective Porter & Jenkinson aim to showcase the best contemporary art of a curious and unusual nature. Through exploring the dark, strange and depraved themes of the Victorian era they curate exhibitions of works that respond directly to these ideas. They intend to bring to the foreground these forgotten aesthetics and to explore the responses and reactions in contemporary society.

Curious Pursuits showcases the result of an international open call, inviting contemporary artists to respond to the lost themes and ideas behind dark, strange, curious and peculiar Victorian aesthetics.

This exhibition hopes to delight and intrigue; including the work of 38 contemporary artists whose work celebrates curious Victorian pursuits which have long been pushed to the corners of society’s collective mind.
