24 JUNE – 30 JUNE 2011
An 80 year old water tower in Lozenets, is the starting point and symbol of Bulgaria’s international festival of independent contemporary art – Water Tower Art Fest, taking place for the fifth time this year, from the 24th to the 30th of June.
Water Tower Art Fest is an initiative of IME NGO, a platform created from artists for artists. It has been developed over the years in alternative art spaces – abandoned or underused buildings – across the city of Sofia. The main focus is to delegate art back its social function in examining and re-evaluating the city and its potentials for all of us, through the visionary statements of artists, thinkers and socially engaged people.
This year’s edition includes exhibitions, performances, concerts, movie projections and workshops in five key locations in the center of Sofia – the Water Tower in Lozenets, Roca showroom, the Serdica Basement, the Central Mineral Bath and the Military Museum.
Attending all events is free. This year more than 150 artists, Bulgarian and international, are expected to participate.

The events are conducted with the support of the Sofia Municipality, under the patronage of the Mayor of Sofia – Mrs Jordanka Fandakova.
