Motivation: To get to know better the perception of international artist initiatives.

When: 2009

Where: Mtaär – Open Art Platform // Moda/Kadıköy

What: Mtaär was established in order to offer the artists the possibility of exhibiting their projects in all disciplines of actual art. Within this scope the activities that we plan include also exhibitions with or without a theme, workshops, artists’ presentations and special performances.

Who: Erkin Gören - Sevil Tunaboylu

How: Besides being an initiative, Mtaär has an open exhibition space where artists outside of the initiaitive as well can be included with their projects. Artists, art groups and independent curators can easily share their projects with us by using the project submission tool at www.mtaar.org.

Why: As artists we want to create a more livable space for ourselves.

Context: Mtaär is situated in Kadikoy/Moda as an alternative to the Beyoğlu/Karaköy axis as the centre of artistic production and activity in Istanbul.

Ambition: It would urgently hand over the governance to people.
