Motivation: Networking and establishing new contacts with local and international artists and organizations as well as providing the participants in the fair with information about Oberliht Association’s activities and wider about contemporary art scene in Moldova.

When: 2000

Where: Is called ARThotel - gallery/office/residency space, and CHIOSC installed in center of Chisinau, which is a public space installation/sculpture that performs 2 main functions: a cultural info point and public platform for participation

What: Oberliht Association aims to mobilize the young artists in order to improve their professional skills, to grant the support so that they could assert themselves in the local and international contemporary art establishment.

Who: Oberliht is voluntary based association, and it used to produce over a long period low-budget and no-budget projects that were giving visibility to a whole generation of artists from Moldova and abroad. It started as a group of artists, students in 2000, who were using painting and other traditional techniques in their works. Today Oberliht represents a platform for realizing projects of contemporary art in Moldova. We offer residency programs, exhibitions, film and video screenings, events in public spaces, publishing activities, consulting and mediation.

Why: Networking and international collaboration represents our strategy today; it offers more stability and perspectives in the future.

Context: Commercialization of public spaces in post-soviet cities / populist cultural policies / academic and canonized artistic education etc.

Ambition: People would become more aware of the context they are living in and more active in arranging their lives according to their own ambitions.
