What is your motivation for the
participation to the 1st

International Artist Initiatives Istanbul Meeting?
We are interested in collborative projects which aim to create alternativ situations and setups.
The specific theme of the international artists initiative meeting, with its focus to istanbul 2010
as well as the istanbul biennial at the same time is a great occation for us to meet interesting
people, to create new ideas, to collaborate on new projects.


When – Our initiative exist since…

Where – The space or location that we use…

We work “on site”, in public spaces and of course in our studio.
What – The focus of our initiative…
a major factor in our work is communication. we mostly realise projects in public spaces. our
projects are always heavily influenced and inspired by the local context. we often start by
studying the location for which we want to develop a concept. everything we encounter during
our research is later integrated into our concept in one way or another. the name collabor.at is
derived from "collaboration", which illustrates our basic concept: interdisciplinary collaboration
with other artists and experts is one of the leading principles of our work

How – Our initiative works like this…

A small team of two or three people create a new idea and start the project running. Then we
are searching other artists and experts to collaborate on this project. We use all sorts of
media: photography + painting, sculpture, video, internet, installations, concept art. we
develop individual concepts
