Opting in and opting out of public and private places isn't as much a physical thing as it is mental. They are states of mind and modes of behavior. As the outline for this workshop said, the boundaries between public and private has become quite blurred as the surveillance technology seems to be increasing and has almost become omnipresent.
This is an invisible way of controlling and structuring the human mind and behavior. There seems to be a lack of private places for the urban being.
